We at Gamma Iota Boule Foundation sincerely thank you for considering us to volunteer your time and having a commitment. Your help can enhance our efforts to improve our Community by working in one or more of our four pillars of concentration: Healthy Living Awareness, Advancement of Education, Economic Development, and Leadership Development. We have established committees to address each.
Healthy Living Awareness Committee
PURPOSE: To see that the Corporation’s policies, guidelines, and activities are such that they help promote wellness and improve individual and collective overall health of African descent residents within the Greater Rochester Area
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Developing, implementing, and evaluating programs designed to assist residents with health related issues
- Counseling and assisting youth and adult residents about healthy living environments, activities, and habits
- Pursuing and obtaining grants and contributions for health and wellness service programs
- Establishing partnerships with hospitals & medical centers, colleges, universities, and other private & public organizations
- Promoting health education programs and working to address the underlying causes of disparities of access and delivery of health services to individuals of African descent within the Community
- Researching and publishing health related information pertinent for the collective knowledge and understanding of health issues relating to individuals of African descent within our Community
Advancement of Education Committee
PURPOSE: To see that the Corporation’s policies, guidelines, and activities promote, sustain, and increase individual and collective knowledge and abilities for the benefit of African descent learners within or from the Greater Rochester Area
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Developing, implementing, and evaluating programs designed for the training and education of our youth and adult learners
- Counseling and assisting youth and adult learners
- Pursuing and obtaining grants and contributions for scholarships and other educational programs
- Establishing partnerships with colleges, universities, schools & school districts, and other private & public organizations
- Evaluating applications/achievements and awarding and/or recommending grants and scholarships
- Researching and publishing educational related information pertinent for the collective knowledge and understanding of our Community
Economic Development Committee
PURPOSE: To see that the Corporation’s policies, guidelines, and activities are such that they help promote, sustain, and increase individual and collective financial wellbeing for individuals of African descent within the Greater Rochester Area
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Developing, implementing, and evaluating programs designed to advise and assist African descent residents with financial related issues
- Counseling and assisting youth about good financial practices and habits
- Pursuing and obtaining grants and contributions for programs designed to assist and improve the financial quality of life for individuals of African descent in our Community
- Establishing partnerships with individuals and organizations to help businesses and individuals of African descent in our Community participate more fully in the economic systems and activities within our Community
- Assisting businesses and individuals of African descent with gaining access to both financial capital and social capital
- Researching and publishing information pertinent for the collective knowledge and understanding of starting, operating, identifying, and supporting Black Business Enterprises within our Community
Leadership Development Committee
PURPOSE: To see that the Corporation’s policies, guidelines, and activities are such that they help develop, promote, sustain, and increase the pipeline of emerging leaders who are individuals of African descent within the Greater Rochester Area
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Developing, implementing, and evaluating programs designed to advise and assist up-and-coming leaders of African descent within the Greater Rochester Area
- Counseling and teaching youth about leadership best practices, skills, and characteristics
- Pursuing and obtaining grants and contributions for programs designed to identify, develop, and provide individuals of African descent in our Community with leadership opportunities and guidance
- Establishing partnerships with individuals and organizations in our Community willing to help individuals of African descent develop leadership mindsets, confidence, and skills that are necessary to be effective leaders within our Community
- Assisting existing qualified individuals of African descent with gaining leadership positions
- Researching and publishing information pertinent for the collective knowledge and understanding of values and behaviors of exemplary leaders who take actions to create sustained, positive transformation within organizations and our Community in support of African descent leaders in our Community
